A bathroom refit has plenty of places where a vague quote can turn into an argument: who supplies the suite, whether tiling is included and what happens if the old pipework is worse than expected. Here is one way to set it out.
The job
A homeowner wants an old bathroom removed and a new suite fitted in the same layout, with the pipework updated where needed. Tiling and decorating are being done by someone else.
The line items
| Line | Qty | Rate | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bathroom suite: toilet, basin, bath and taps | 1 | $1,800 | $1,800 |
| Pipework, fittings and consumables | 1 | $240 | $240 |
| Labour, per day | 3 | $350 | $1,050 |
| Removal and disposal of old suite | 1 | $180 | $180 |
| Total before tax | $3,270 |
Your markup on the suite and materials can sit inside each rate or be applied across the quote. Add whichever taxes apply to each line, and the customer sees the final total before approving.
The payment schedule
The suite needs to be ordered up front, so the deposit is set at 30% of the total before tax. The rest is split across two stages, so neither side carries too much risk.
| Stage | When | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit (30%) | On approval, before the suite is ordered | $981 |
| Stage payment | When the old suite is out and the pipework is done | $1,200 |
| Final balance | On completion | $1,089 |
| Total before tax | $3,270 |
What to put in the notes
- Tiling, decorating and flooring are not included
- Any work to hidden pipework that turns out to be needed will be quoted and agreed first
- The start date is confirmed once the deposit is received and the suite has a delivery date
- The water will be off for part of the job, and you will say when

If the job changes
Say you lift the floor and find a pipe that needs replacing. Agree the extra with the customer first, then revise the estimate and send it again. JobPebbo saves each version you send, so everyone can see what was agreed and when.

Common questions
Should a bathroom quote include tiling?
Only if you are doing it. If not, say so in the notes so the customer knows to arrange it separately.
How should I handle unexpected work on a refit?
Explain in your notes that any hidden work will be quoted and agreed first, then send a revised estimate when it comes up.
Can I add stage payments to a quote in JobPebbo?
Yes. Add a deposit and one or more scheduled payments to an estimate or invoice.
